Moomba Long Weekend 11-14 March 2022

COVID-19 Policy

The health and safety of both the public and participants at Moomba has been at the forefront of the design of Moomba 2022 and the festival has a COVID-safe plan in place. The City of Melbourne has worked closely with the State Government to ensure that the event is delivered in line with the requirements of the current COVIDSafe settings in Victoria. For up to date advice please visit coronavirus.vic.gov.au

Moomba is an outdoor public event held in open parklands with vast spaces for visitors to move around. Based on the nature of the event, the COVID risk profile for Moomba is considered low.

We encourage all attendees to be fully vaccinated if eligible. Attendees over the age of 18 will be required to check-in via the Services Victoria app when they engage with certain elements at the festival such as carnival rides and various programming areas. QR codes will also be available for attendees to check-in at main access points into the site. COVID Safe principals will be applied and COVID Safe behaviour encouraged, including social distancing, sanitisation and wearing of masks when in busy areas.

All of the COVID-safe requirements are subject to change and will be in accordance with the requirements of the Victorian Chief Health Officer and also specifically the Victorian Public Events Framework.

This advice is subject to change based on direction from the Department of Health.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us by emailing moomba@melbourne.vic.gov.au and remember to always refer to the latest information on the DHS website.

What we are doing

To ensure a COVID-safe event, and in keeping with Chief Health Officer directives, Moomba is:

  • Monitoring and supporting the health and safety of its workers, performers and staff
  • Ensuring the majority of our venues are outdoors to allow for social distancing and airflow
  • Ensuring the required distance is maintained between the audience and artist where required
  • Providing workers with PPE where appropriate
  • All Moomba Festival employees, artists, performers, competitors and contractors will be fully vaccinated
  • Heavily restricting backstage access
  • Ensuring sanitising and handwashing facilities readily available
  • Collecting information from attendees for the purpose of contact tracing
  • Ensuring regular cleaning schedules are in place to mitigate risk
  • Ensuring Moomba is delivered under a COVID-safe plan. Our COVID-safe plan will be updated to align with the changing government directions and our website will be updated with additional information over time.
